Why We Need(ed) a New Roof
The 1831 sanctuary’s roof was last shingled in the late 1970’s and the 1964 Crain Hall roof was last shingled in the early 1990’s. Over the past 193 years members of the church and friends in Bourne have stepped up to care for this special building, a center of the Bourne community for generations. We are now asking our congregation and friends to join together to preserve this gathering place for generations to come
After problems with and an inspection of our roof, the Trustees identified the need to immediately replace the roof of the Bourne United Methodist Church. The $67,500 project ($65K for the roof and $2.5K for new gutters) was completed in June so that it would benefit from the summer weather to properly seal. Now, we need to PAY for the new roof. A Roof Replacement Fund was started in June, and to date we have raised $37,705. With your help, we can bridge the $29,795 gap, safeguard the church’s financial health and ensure a safe and welcoming space for worship, service, and community for generations to come. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to this crucial goal.

A new roof will allow us to continue hosting vital programs, from worship services to community outreach events, like the popular Parish Pumpkin Patch (see accompanying photo). Every dollar brings us closer to our goal and helps us maintain this cherished landmark for future generations.
The Parish Pumpkin Patch supports local food security and sustainable farming. All proceeds go to the Bourne Food Pantry and the Navajo Nation farmers in New Mexico. The Patch is operated by parish members and community volunteers.
